Oral Comments
Public comments on marine protected areas
will be taken during a scheduled portion of all public meetings
held by the Marine Protected Areas Federal Advisory Committee.
The following guidelines were specifically developed to assist
individuals who are interested in making a comment at one
of the public meetings. All public comments received by the
Federal Advisory Committee will become part of the official
record.
- Individuals interested in making public
comments to the Advisory Committee during public meetings
must complete a Public Comment Speakers Slip at the meeting
in order to participate.
- Public Comment instructions and forms will
be available from staff at the registration table at each
meeting.
- Forms must be filled out at the meeting
and submitted to staff at the registration desk.
- The amount of time each speaker is allowed
will be determined once the meeting begins. Speakers will
be informed about their time allotment and number of minutes
by staff when the speaker's form is received. Each speaker
will have the same amount of time in which to address the
Committee.
- Speakers will be called in the order in
which they signed up.
- Speakers must provide the Advisory Committee
Designated Federal Officer with an original written statement
for the public record.
- All public comments received by the Advisory
Committee will become part of the official record and will
be posted on mpa.gov, along with the name and affiliation
of the individual submitting the comment, unless the individual
submitting the comment specifically requests otherwise.
- The Advisory Committee will not edit public
comments posted on mpa.gov. However, the Advisory Committee
has the right, at its discretion, not to post comments that
include objectionable language.
